Want something green but low maintenance? Terrariums are a great way to have a mini ecosystem right at your fingertips, so it’s no wonder they’ve become a popular staple for indoor gardening.
Plant propagation is one of the most rewarding (and cheapest) experiences of being a Plant Parent.
Whether you’re hoarding what seems like half of Garfield Conservatory in your apartment or just want to figure out that one perfect plant to fill an empty space, we’ll give you the tips you need to keep ’em happy and green.
A timeless and unique art form, kokedama is a centuries old Japanese garden practice that places a plant’s roots in a mud ball encased in soft green moss. It can rest on a dish or be suspended by a string. They’re remarkably simple to make, and once you get the hang of it, kokedama will become your favorite relaxing activity!

There will be a presentation by The Community Builders regarding a proposed project at 4715 N. Western, currently a city-owned parking lot, across the street from the Western "L" plaza.
The proposed project is five stories mixed-use (commercial on the ground floor), with 42 one- and two-bedroom units. It is a mixed-income building with all units reserved for residents who earn between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income.
This is an important project for the future of the neighborhood.
This is not a public community meeting — this is a committee meeting convened in advance of the potential development going before the 47th Ward Zoning Advisory Council. After that stage, a community meeting may be called for larger public comment.
To participate in this and other HOLS committee meetings, you must be a dues-paying member. If you are not already a member, please join prior to the meeting using our website (or bring a check to the meeting).
We are planting a mix of versatile native plants that will support our local bees, butterflies, and birds — join us and get your hands dirty!
